PSX Consultancy

Exhibition / Science Fiction Prototyping / Plant Augmentations

PSX is a project by Špela PetričPei-Ying Lin, Jasmina Weiss and Dimitrios Stamatis created for BIO 50 (the 24th Biennial of Design Ljubljana). Operating under the Theme 11 (Designing Life) it was initiated in Slovenia and developed primarily through online collaboration as well as intense design sprints in London and Ljubljana.

The intersection of different cultures and disciplines of our small team produced a dynamic amalgamation of opinions and directions exploring diverse possibilities. My task was the design of prototypes operating under the absurd premise of plant-centered design the impossibility of understanding someone so close and yet so alien (such as our vegetative neighbors) and the unstoppable need of humans to create bridges and assign meaningful connections.

The final prototypes operate under the absurd premise of plant-centered design the impossibility of understanding someone so close and yet so alien (such as our vegetative neighbors) and the unstoppable need of humans to create bridges and assign meaningful connections. Through the creation of a mock-up consultancy and with a mixture of scientific research and science fiction prototyping, we devised plant centered augmentations exploring the strategies of plant sexual reproductions.
